Can i cancel an Ebay listing to have he highest bidder still win?
I am listing a product on ebay, and i have come to an agreement with a person to sell the product. For some reason, the Buy it Now is not working, so when this person bids, can i just cancel the auction and then let them win for the amount they have bid?
FIRST ANSWER THAT WORKS GET BEST ANSWER
You can only do a Buy it Now when there are no bids. The Buy it Now option goes away as soon as the first bid is made.
You cannot stop an auction in mid-stream as soon as a certain bid is made.
You would probably get more money if you let the auction run to the end. The person that you were willing to sell it to will at least bid the amount that he offered to you.
You could cancel the auction and sell the item outside of Ebay, but that might be risky.
I’d tell him that you were mistaken about being able to stop the auction prematurely.
